Around 50 vehicles have been marked with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.
Automobiles, building surfaces and postboxes were vandalized, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they stated in a official communication.
Law enforcement state they were notified during the night on Wednesday, when a resident noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored substance.
The fluid had been drawn in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they reported.
Law enforcement then found multiple other vandalized cars and residential walls in the surrounding area.
Swastikas are banned in Germany under legislation prohibiting the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.
Officials report initial examinations indicate the fluid was most likely human bodily fluid.
"At present there remains no indication as to its origin; investigators are not yet cognizant of any harm in relation with the event," they stated.
Local authorities stated they were trying "to resolve the incident" and have asked to the public for tips.
A senior representative said the attack rendered him stunned and had to be solved quickly.
"This event strikes at the center of Hanau and reopens the pain of the right-wing violent incident half a decade ago," he wrote on online, recalling the death of nine individuals by a shooter focusing on individuals of foreign heritage in 2020.
